In the western lifestyle, there are lots of iconic names. For us gals, there might not be one so well noted as that of Martha Josey. A phenom in the barrel racer’s world, Martha Josey should also be known for something else: her love of Hyo Silver!
“I’ve been buying Hyo Silver jewelry for years,” Martha said. “I have pieces that I won’t leave the house without.”
Martha and our Show Rep, Sharon Archer, are big fans of one another. They’ve been friends for years and Martha would even love to collaborate someday. “I love to go visit her booths at all the big rodeos and the NFR throughout the years. She really understands my style and is always quick to show me things she thinks I will like!” Jo Symons, owner and founder of Hyo Silver and former Miss Rodeo Australia is also a longtime admirer of Josey. “She’s an icon in the industry and her work with the youth barrel racers is phenomenal. I admire her as a businesswoman and horsewoman.”
A world barrel racing champion, with NFR, NBHA, and WPRA titles to boot, Martha Josey runs a barrel racing clinic and also creates a line of saddles and tack that all cowgirls dream of owning. But Martha dreams of Hyo!
“One of my favorite pieces is a cross necklace that I wear every time I teach in a clinic, along with my Genuine Swiss Blue Topaz Cocktail Ring. I wear the cross necklace and the blue topaz ring every day. They are two pieces I’ve had for years and wear absolutely everywhere.”
This coming year “everywhere” includes Martha’s induction into the Colorado Springs Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. “It is an honor to be inducted, especially since they just started inducting women. I am honored to be represented in such a historic Hall of Fame with so many other great cowboys and cowgirls,” Martha said.
Of course, she’ll be representing Hyo Silver at the event, too. “I will be wearing my blue topaz ring and I am looking to wear a Hyo bracelet [to the ceremony].”
