Sizing Guides

At Hyo Silver, we pride ourselves on our customer service. We realize finding the appropriate size for a piece of jewelry can be difficult. To help you in determining the correct size, we have created the following measurement and sizing guides. Please read them carefully when making your sizing decisions.

Rings Sizing Guide

The best way to get sized for a Hyo Silver ring is to visit our showroom in Bandera, Texas or one of our booths at special events.  If you can’t see us in-person for a professional sizing, you can use our paper ring sizer measurement tool. Please remember this tool is a guide and does not ensure an accurate measurement.

Printable Ring Sizer: Our printable ring sizer is designed to offer a good estimate of your Hyo Silver ring size. If your measurement falls in between half sizes, size up to the next 1/2 size.   Add a 1/2 or  full size if ordering an especially wide ring ( SKUs with a 3/8 in. back and ¾ in. or 7/8 in. front like RRR005, R045, R042, R043 R049, R038-BLK, R038-SVR, RRR011, and custom SKUs BSR019SB, BSR019, BSR045, BSR050RR, BSR050, BSR038, BSR049, BSRRR005SB, BSRRR005, BSR042, BSR043). Measure several times for accuracy. Please remember this tool is a guide and does not ensure an accurate measurement. Click here to download our printable ring sizer measurement tool.

Are Rings True to Size?

Short answer – No. Ring styles with different widths fit differently. The wider the band, the tighter the fit. Most of our rings are wide band styles and a larger size is often needed.  Customers typically need to go up a half or whole size from their “skinny band” measurement in Hyo Silver rings. We use Stuller brand True Size Mandrel and measure from the bottom of the band.  Ring sizes may vary ¼ in size within our sizing system. We suggest ordering the larger size if in between sizes.

What if I Order the Wrong Size?

Rings from our current stock catalog may be exchanged within 60 days of purchase when returned in new condition, subject to inspection for signs of wear. We offer ring resizing for custom rings and non-exchangeable stock rings at a reasonable fee.

Ring Resizing

To resize most rings, we cut the band and remove or add metal to obtain the requested size. The part where the ring was cut and soldered can become weaker. Although structural change is usually unnoticeable due to the thickness of most bands, the decorative scrolling or patterns on some of our ring styles may show where the metal was manipulated. The metal is cut on the back of the band, so it noticed less whilst wearing the ring. Rings with engraving may require an additional service request to replace engraving; additional fees may apply.

Finger Sizes Can Fluctuate

Cold weather can make hands smaller and hot weather climates can cause swelling, especially in Texas. Ring sizes vary from finger to finger and hand to hand. Typically, dominant hands are slightly larger than non-dominant hands.

Available Ring Sizes

For rings in our current stock collection, we typically carry sizes 5 through 10 ½ in Women’s styles, and sizes 7 through 15 in unisex and Men’s bands. We carry half and whole sizes. Special orders for sizes beyond this range are available for most catalog stock ring styles and custom ring styles; additional fees may apply.

Average Men & Women Sizes

The average size for a woman is 7 to 8 and for a man is 10 to 11.

Bangle Bracelet Measurement Guide

Sizes are determined by the size of your hand not wrist. Tuck your thumb into your palm toward your pinky (as if you were putting on the bangle). Using a tailor’s tape to measure your hand all the way around the set of knuckles closest to your wrist. Click here for a printable measurement guide as well as a chart to determine your size.

Using a soft measuring tape or our the printable sizing guide, measure just above the wrist bone (toward your elbow). Then add approximately 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch for a snug fit and 3/4 inch to 1 inch for a loose fit. Click here for a printable sizing guide to determine what size bracelet to order.

Chains

Hyo Silver offers chains through a third party and offered at a discounted rate for customers purchasing pendants. Hyo Silver jewelry chains are sterling silver/ .925. The millimeter widths for chain styles are as follows: Rope – 3 mm, Rolo – 3.5 mm, Figaro – 5.5 mm, Omega – 3 mm, Sterling Silver Cable Chain – 4.8 mm, Oxidized Cable – 4.8 mm, Spiga Chain – 2.2 mm.

Sizing for Women: Typically, women can wear all sizes. Match jewelry to a look: A shorter chain works with lower cut garments and is good for every day wear. Wearing long chains (24” -30”) compliments larger sized pendants and is a popular look as they can be worn to create long vertical lines, giving the illusion of added height.

Sizing for Men: For men, the chain should sit at the collarbone when it is worn with an open shirt collar. Men’s chains generally measure between 18 inches and 20 inches in length for a necklace chain that will lie at the collarbone. It is recommended to choose the next size up for larger neck sizes.
